About Jim
Please let me introduce myself. I’m W James Brokenbourgh AKA Jim. I married my wonderful wife 50+ years ago and we have three great adult sons, plus 6 grandchildren. My past careers include owner and operator of an auto restoration business, a successful realtor, and a motel owner. My interest in woodworking began when I bought my first piece of woodworking equipment back in 1976 when I also started renovation work on my home. After years of renovation on a number of my residences and commercial properties, I became a licensed general contractor. I also started making furniture for our family and friends and after years of studying woodworking and it’s numerous techniques and with a growing clientele for my furniture, I opened my own custom woodworking business. I started teaching woodworking for our local community college years ago and for some time for private students. I also have volunteered for a number of high school wood shop programs for over 12 years. I’ve now been a professional woodworker for close to 32 years and a woodworking teacher for close to 14 years. I’m passionate about woodworking and furniture-making and I love sharing this passion with students so they can peruse their dreams too.
